In the Steeplechase of Stupid, Has Kathleen Parker Surged Ahead to Take the Gold?

Kathleen Parker - who is frequently referred to as a conservative (I suppose in the same way that commemorative Elvis plates are hawked as "investments") - implies that Sarah Palin is unwittingly stoking the fires of racism by, er, being white and by failing to note that the South of To Kill a Mockingbird could break out again at any moment. Chris Matthews tingles orgasmically on the sidelines, almost dropping his stopwatch.

Sounds like the Dhimmicrats are scrambling to neuter anyone who might be an effective leader of the Republican party. This is a smear job, pure and simple.

But, yeah, Parker leads by a length in this race. That was the most stunningly stupid chain of "reasoning" that I've seen in a while. That Chris Matthews picked up on the meme merely reinforces your conclusion.

There's a bit of racism that I thought we'd gotten past: the idea that white southerners are toothless, inbred hicks who dress up in sheets and burn crosses for fun. When I was young and first came to Ohio in 1968 (the first time I'd ever been east of the Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon), that attitude was pervasive. In the years since, as northerners have moved south in great numbers, following the jobs I might add, I thought the stupidity had begun to die out. I see I was wrong.

And it isn't only southerners. Those mean-spirited jackasses are dumping on any white people who don't live in the elite enclaves on the coasts. Cul-de-sacs of whitedom? Who the hell do these smug, supercilious idiots think they are?

Parker didn't make a reference to "Mandingo"because she didn't want to admit she owned the book AND the movie...

rebeccaH-- when was the last time a "progressive" EVER got "past" an idea...?
