Try Dick Powell as Marlowe in "Murder, My Sweet"...A strange casting idea, but it works somehow.
I've seen that one several times, and it's very good. Love Mike Mazurki in the role of Moose: "I'm called Moose. On account of I'm large."
I like it because it actually uses the classic Marlowe patter - "That black pool opened up again and I dived in. There was no bottom...""The big-league Blondes..."
