Race-based government in Hawaii?

Democratic Senator Daniel Inouye (good lord, is he still around?) is trying to sneak the so-called "Akaka" legislation through congress in the form of a clause buried in an Interior Department funding bill (the Akaka legislation would recognize native Hawaiians as a separate people, with power to negotiate separately with the federal and state governments).

Opposition to this law is a plank in the Paco platform. If it does pass, however, who wants to be ambassador to Hawaii?

(H/T: Overlawyered)

Well, I could use a job. But, I realize ambassadorships are usually given to reward those who help the candidate get elected. So...

VOTE FOR PACO!

BTW, I look much better with a good tan.

My American refugee - from Abbie Hoffman - friend says he got his skull cracked in Hawaii by a Samoan dude. Heavy place. Hmm, I'll take it if there are plenty of body-guards.

Also know a Hawaiian lady, another 'refugee' living in the hippie havens of far eastern Australia, who says she grew up on the same street as Barry O, her brother took him to the Krishna temple, and visited the White House to make sure O has a copy of Bhagavad Gita handy - bitter Gita clinger.

Uh say, isn't that why George Allen lost an election, the Akaka moment?

Bruce: I've heard that there's been quite a bit of brown-on-white violence in Hawaii, but that may simply be anecdotal.

El: Er, something like that.

Lovely Daughter was often the target of brown-on-white violence in Hawai'i. Ignored by authorities for the most part. School system is a joke there, too, just like here - and for the same reasons.

I transitted Hawaii coming back to the continental US from Asia once. The immigration and customs people there are the rudest most abusive I've ever run into anywhere in the world. Will never go back.
