Madame Prime Minister

I have no idea whether the Streep portrayal of Margaret Thatcher is any good or not; though, given the knee-jerk leftist impulses of Hollywood, I wouldn't exactly be stunned to discover that it's a hack job.

Therefore, I will continue taking my Thatcher straight.

oh I am sure Streep will do a good job with the voice and facial expressions, etc. the script will be something else. what surprises me is the distinct lack of publicity around this film. other than a few soundbites from Streep, I am not reading much about the film itself.

missred, that might be from the script favoring Thatcher. Or at least not portraying her as a slavering dictatorial nut job.

Binging around, I didn't much substantive on the biopic, either. Still, I'm with Paco; I'll take the Real McCoy.

It's doing big trade here in Australia and advertised all around the inner cities. Lefties are flocking to it. 'The American market' was always very selective with Brit stuff, as you all know.

Many women say it 'looks uncannily authentic'. My brain must work differently to theirs. I can't stand Streep. Find the stills are smirking clownish caricatures of Mrs Iron Lady.

The main criticism is that it spends too much time on her aged senile decline - that's where the lefty writers got their dig in and avoid 'sexism'.

Yes I'll take her straight too, thanks Paco.

There is a critique of the movie by Virginia Postrel linked from Instapundit. The movie is as you feared.

Wonder if they would do the same type of movie about Hillary? Why yes, that was a rhetorical question, thank you for asking.
