The Scottish Independence campaign hasn't inspired a Tasmanian Independence campaign yet, but the rest of us remain hopeful.
What a history, from smart people whose ideas led the world to some of the dumbest in 2 centuries. Perhaps they'll go back to reaving now.
- Our ancestors took the brains with them when they left. Biggest brain drain in history. The Irish are right to laugh, especially as we both were pretty much one people a millenium ago, before the Viking raids:

I am reminded of the comment somebody made about the prospect of an independent Quebec: Too small for a nation, too large for an insane asylum.
Of course, there are other points of view. In Josephine Tey's mystery novel"The Daughter of Time" the English detective sergent tells his superior, the Scot Alan Grant, that the only historical date he could remember was 1603. "That's when we had the Scots tied to our tails for good."
