Well, that's weird!
I studied the first image for a minute or two, with a growing sense of something's not "right". Then I started reading and scrolling down, till I came to the mirror image. Looking at it, I immediately had the feeling it was "right".
I think there's a Twilight Zone episode in there somewhere. Or maybe I'm Louis Daguerre reincarnated.
Or you might not be getting enough sleep.
I'll work on that.
None of the above. R-man came from an alternate universe through a mirror.
My first impression was that 1838 Paris was really dirty. Am I missing the point?
No, but you're noticing artifacts of the photographic process. It's a seven minute exposure, using a light-tight box and a lens not designed for a camera; and then streaks from the developing process where buddy had to wipe the image plate with the various noxious solutions necessary to create the image.
... and shadows.
Cheers
