No country for Mrs. Paco

In addition to her other miseries, Mrs. Paco suffers from asthma - so I guess Melbourne is out as a destination: "Death toll from Australia's thunderstorm asthma reaches 8".

Melbourne has the weirdest weather in Australia. Huge dust storms can engulf the place, you can't see your hands. This looks like one.

Perth weather might suit, but that's one of the most remote places on earth.

Adelaide is similar dry mediterranean climate but full of Bogans on welfare and Greenies with hyphenated names who Tim Blair makes fun of: Natasha Stott-Despoja etc.

Apparently the high winds pulverize pollen into tiny fragments, making ingestion of pollen particles deep into the lungs a lot more likely.

I was living at Albert Park in '83 when the big dust storm hit. Hadn't rained for a year which was unusual to say the least. The brown dust was probably all the topsoil from the western fertile areas, and pollen maybe. Even on Port Melbourne beach visibility was about a metre. Then a few weeks later it looked like we would get a rainstorm in the evening, some relief. Eventually all we got was wind and charred Eucalypt leaves raining down across the city: the Ash Wednesday bushfire dregs. 75 people died that night. They talk about 'extreme weather' these days.
